A FEW ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

Does this translate Hindi into English?

No. It changes the writing system, not the meaning. नमस्ते becomes namaste, not “hello”.

What scheme does it use?

A simple ITRANS-like scheme: आ aa, ई ii, ऊ uu, ऋ RRi, श sh, ष Sh, ट T, ठ Th, ड D, ढ Dh, ण N, ं M, and ँ ~M. It is a readable convention, not a complete ITRANS parser or reversible standard.

Why does भारत become bhaarata?

The tool follows written consonants and retains their inherent a unless a matra or virama changes it. Spoken Hindi often drops this vowel; this tool does not guess those pronunciation rules.
